As we all bid farewell to the Tropical North Queensland wet season and usher in another idyllic, sunny dry season, it’s time to cast our thoughts to all the outdoor events soon to be happening in and around Cairns. With Covid restrictions all but gone, local festival organisers are gearing up for a fun and fruitful season for all those keen to engage in community based outdoor activities.
A popular seaside festival soon to kick off is the Yorkeys Knob Festival, or Festival Of The Knob. This year, the Yorkeys Knob Festival will be held along the stunning foreshore of the Sims Esplanade Parklands.
A fun and free family day for all, the festival is from 10am – 4.30pm on Saturday 11th of June 2022 with food and beverage stalls remaining open until 6.30pm.
What to expect at the Yorkeys Knob Festival
For the kids, you’ll find plenty of rides, treats and arts and craft stalls to keep them occupied. The festival rides are brought to you by Wonder Fair Amusement, we recommend purchasing your online wristband for unlimited rides between 11am and 3pm. The grown ups will be treated to a variety of stalls with massage, plants, second hand clothing, historic displays and some stunning vintage cars and motorcycles.
There will also be a licensed area where you can sit down and enjoy some locally produced beers and Queensland wines from MacAlister Brewing.
There’s plenty of shade and soft, green grass along Sims Esplanade, so seating should be easy and comfortable. Bring your swimmers and towel and enjoy the magnificent Yorkeys Knob Beach.
With the Festival Of The Knob growing yearly, it’s set to be great turnout, showcasing the beautiful beachside suburb of Yorkeys Knob to locals and tourists alike. The Festival of the Knob now forms part of our community’s yearly events and as numbers grow each year, it has become a popular and positive event throughout Cairns and its districts, bringing many visitors into Yorkey’s Knob to enjoy our idyllic beach side living and to celebrate with the locals on this special June weekend.
